Cosimo V Ferdinando (18th November 1747 - Present) is the current Grand Duke of Tuscany and head of House Medici, succeeding his father after his brief tenure as Grand Duke. He succeeded to the position aged just six, with a regency being established under Maria-Antonia Henrietta de' Medici, his great grandaunt.
He has been considered a pawn of his regent and others playing the political game in Fidenza, with his high status and vast wealth of House Medici attracting power-players to him. Nonetheless, it is obvious to many that the Dowager Grand Duchess is the one truly in control of Medici affairs and interests at the Royal Court. In a political move, a marriage was arranged between him and the sister of King Emmanuele III, Princess Maria Francesca.
